Chicago Horseback Riding Information

Our optional one-time Horseback Riding field trip is offered multiple times throughout the summer for campers ages 6 and up. Because of a stable-imposed limit on the number campers who can ride per day and the popularity of the activity, campers may only attend once during the summer. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and can be done when you complete your camp registration. (If horseback riding is full, you will have the option of adding your campers’ names to our waiting list. If a space opens and you are on the wait list, we will notify you.)

This field trip is not for experienced riders – it is intended to serve as an introduction to horseback riding.

Knowing how to safely care for horses is just as important as knowing how to ride.  This is why Glen Grove enjoys partnering with Game On! Sports Camp 4 Girls, introducing their full-immersion Horsemanship Program this summer. The program gives girls a fun, safe, hands-on opportunity to learn and engage in all facets of horsemanship.  Participants will receive top-notch hunter seat riding instruction from staff.  They will also experience horse health care, grooming, tacking, nutrition, and learn about safety and horse behavior.

COST
The cost of the one-time horseback riding field trip is $65.

WAIVER
In order to participate, the stable requires a completed waiver for each camper. The link to the online waiver & specific date she will be riding will be emailed to you at a later date.

LOCATION
Campers will be transported to Glen Grove Equestrian Center (9453 Harms Road, Morton Grove) for their afternoon field trip.

WHAT TO WEAR
Please have your camper come to camp that day with a pair of jeans or long pants, wear a shirt with sleeves (long or short-no tank tops) and bring boots that have a heel. (Rain boots are fine. If you don’t have boots with a heel, sneakers are acceptable.) Please note that she can wear regular camp clothes – t-shirt, shorts, etc. – in the morning until it’s time to get ready for horseback riding. She does not need to arrive at camp in her horseback riding clothes.
